He Won’t Eat Goldfish Crackers?

For my first two children, I had a rule that starting at age 3, they needed to try a bite of each item on their plates. However, it is clear that Noah feels that food is the one thing he can control and that most of it is gross. Upon the advice of his pediatrician, I have given up much more than just continuing to serve the same things, taking my tiny victories (broccoli, white rice), and hoping that a pure dairy and fruit diet will provide enough basic nutrients.

Things Noah will not eat:

  • Goldfish crackers
  • Any other crackers
  • Chicken
  • Jam
  • Pizza that has minuscule green oregano flecks on it
  • Pizza that he has randomly decided was “gross”
  • Soup
  • Tofu
  • Cereal that is shaped into flakes or rice crisps
  • Brown rice
  • Lentils or beans, even sugar-laden baked beans
  • Most cheese
  • Sometimes pasta
  • Burgers (50% of the time)
  • Items he dropped on the clean kitchen floor
  • Lettuce
  • Vegetables he happily helped grow in the garden
  • Produce he cheerfully selected at the store
